March 30, 2015

Hello, everyone.  This week has been pretty good, it seems like it was pretty quick, too.  It was a little different because President Donald and Elder Barrus and Elder Wintolo came up for a visit.  It was nice to have some change.  I really enjoyed that.  Elder Barrus is the only person that came to both my mission birthdays.  That was also good, my birthday.  We didn't really do anything special, just ate some cake and then got eggs and flour thrown all over me.  So that was exciting.
On Thursday, I had to sign up for BYU classes, which went surprisingly well, considering that I hadn't researched anything.  I'm in some classes now, so if all else fails, I know what I'll be doing on the 31st of August.  It always surprises me to think that I'm going back to America fairly soon...  Not worth thinking about.
Other than the visit from President and the AP's, I don't think anything of particular mention happened.  I never really remember what goes on, week to week, because it's all so similar every week.  Or maybe I just forget.  Oh well.  It's a good thing we don't get that much time to email, otherwise you'd just get a bunch of rambling like this every week.  Have a great week!

PS this computer is not able to attach my pictures.  It says that it's trying, but then it says attachment failed, so you're just going to have to wait...  Sorry.

Hello everyone, Summing up last week,  I got to Jakarta at 11 ish, and there were lots of missionaries using the computers, and we left to go play paintball at 12, so there wasn't much time anyway...  We were going to leave at 4, but something happened, and then there was traffic, and I just had time to shower, send a quick email, and then go and do missionary work.  P-day is only until 6, so that's what we did.  Jakarta was good, I enjoyed myself.  The flight was long, though.  3 1/2 hours is a long time to sit in a plane, especially when I  never sit for very long.  But it works out in the end.
Other than that, this week has been pretty regular.  We didn't do anything special, or go anywhere special.  Just investigator's houses and member's houses...  So that was exciting.
Last week, we had 3 baptisms in our branch, one was taught by the Sisters, and two were taught by my companion and me.  It was great to see them get baptized.  I really love them.
Other than that, I feel like everything is pretty normal.
I love you!

Dear Family, friends and other people...
I am sorry, I have no time tonight to email.  I went to Jakarta, and then we played paintball, and now we're getting out of the office late, and I don't have time.  I apologize, and I will tell you more next week.  Maybe.  But we did have 3 baptisms in our branch on Saturday!  It was pretty great.
Love,  Elder Heiner

So....  I'm running out of time (surprise).  The exciting news for the week is about transfers!  I'm not moving, my companion's not moving, but Elder Hethaura is.  And so is Sister Wihanda.  I really like them, and so that's going to be an interesting change.
Things here are good.  I really like it in Manado, and not only because we're in a tropical paradise.  It's great.  I'm healthy, happy, working hard.  Things are great.
I don't know of anything else out of the ordinary that happened this week.  I just got news about 10 minutes ago that I'll be going to Jakarta next Monday and Tuesday for MLC again.  That'll be fun.
Have a great week!

This is a picture of me and one of my investigators in Surabaya
who got batized after I moved.  His name is Ardi, he was Muslim,
and he is great.  It was a great opportunity to get to see him again.
These next pictures are from a Chinese celebration.
I don't know what the deal is but there were about a
squillion people there.
Sometimes we go to really cool places.
The sisters had a baptism and they asked me to do it.
She's a great girl who is 17 named Ella.

March 2, 2015

Hello everyone.  Things are good this week.  I still like being a missionary.  Here's a cool story about one of our investigators:  We were on an angkot going back to the area of our house, and the angkot driver decided to take some random shortcut.  We got a ways down the hill, and it stopped to pick someone up.  As the angkot was stopped, a 12 year old kid looked from the outside of the angkot and saw the Book of Mormon I was holding.  He asked if it was a Book of Mormon, I said yes, and he said that they had one of those, and then the angkot left, and I was too shell shocked to stop it, so we went on our way.  I asked the lady next to me what the kid's name was and where he lived, and so the next day we came by the same spot, and there he was.  He and 2 friends were getting some cooking oil, and they took us back to their house.  One of the 3 people is 18 and he is the one who really wanted to learn.  But he was crazy because his mom died a year ago and he didn't have proper grief counseling.  But he read the Book of Mormon and the teachings of Joseph Fielding Smith and the Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson and the Gospel Principles book, and as much other church materials that he could get a hold of, and he stopped being crazy.  It was kind of gradual, but it was seeable.  I was amazed at the peace I could see in his face.  He was able to concentrate, hold better conversation and a lot of other really amazing things.  It was super cool, and he's going to get baptized on Saturday.
Other than that, I got to go on splits with Elder Hetharua, which was like old times again.  And also with Elder Campbell.  He's super cool.  He and I can talk for hours which is really weird.  It's because we're both geeks who read a lot of books and stuff.  It was great fun.  They're both awesome missionaries.
Gotta run, Bye!
